This walk was another long walk, but remember my comments yesterday about setting benchmarks to mark how much you accomplished? Not possible today, we were in the fog all the way to Leon.
What a pretty city, I have been amazed that I have not been in one church....in all of Spain. They are all locked, such beautiful history, why don’t they let the public in? Sad.

I have met many people along the way, recently a couple from England, that are doing the walk in stages; and someone else named Shawn, who just finished spending a month in Ireland, then spent two weeks in Madrid and as soon as he is done with the walk he is going  to bike ride across Africa.

I woke up a little melancholy today, I have told people for many years to separate your self-worth (self-Identity) from the roles you play in life. That way when you fail at something, you didn’t fail ....you just did a bad job and you can improve tomorrow. If you think 'well I’m just no good at that' then you can’t or believe you can’t improve. I believe I have failed in many ways in my life and I’m pretty good (not always) at improving my roles and being successful. But for the last 20 years I have been in my office from 7am-7pm every day, even when I go on vacation I work from 6am-1pm, and then take a break. It always made me feel that I have accomplished something....every day. Here, I have been doing nothing but getting up and walking everyday...that is my only role. I can barely talk to anyone else as I don’t speak Spanish. I really have to separate my Self Identity from the roles I normally play in life.

Lesson Learned:
With new smart phones and email, it is hard to separate your Self Identity from your roles you play in life...because it is so hard to get away from your roles. You and I need to take a role break (perhaps not a 6 week role break like I'm doing now, but a break.) I plan to have a no Email day once a week and take more role breaks and grow my self-Identity.
