We’ve talked about your personal brand on LinkedIn, but what about your personal brand overall? I recently attended a workshop on personal branding, and the speakers made great points about branding yourself as a sales person, a marketing professional, or really any other profession.

As a sales person, you have your company brand behind what you do, which only builds credibility, but now it’s your turn to create your own personal mystique that sets you apart.

Here are three key suggestions to keep in mind while building your own personal brand:

  1. How you look Whether we like it or not, we judge and we are judged based on how we look and dress. Your industry will sometimes dictate how you should dress, but be intentional on how you want to come across.
  2. How you talk We’ve all sat across the table with someone who is very monotone and not very enthusiastic. Although enthusiasm is not really key, it does engage whoever your speaking to. Work on your tonality and pitch – you don’t want to be that sales person that sounds “fake”.
  3. What you say Think of the quickest most concise way to get your message across. Prospects don’t need to know all the details, they need to know the bottom line.
