Late start out of Portomarin, we decided to have breakfast there, typically we walk for 5 miles or so and then have breakfast. It was a clear day some cold wind now and then, but it was nice when the sun popped out. We had a more gradual mountain, only about 1500 feet...twice. Not much has changed since yesterday....still seems like walking through Wisconsin on the side of a mountain. Met a few more people on the trail, about 20 people.....which is a lot compared to other days....we are getting close. We saw our Austrian friend ...trying to give massage to pretty ladies....we saw Las Vegas (he calls me Dallas and I call him Vegas) and walked together for a while and then he was off......that is one thing to remember is "You walk your own Camino". There have been several days where Jim and I walked 10-15 feet apart and never said a word the whole day.....till we stopped.....by the way those were great peaceful days for both of us. We had a nice conversation with two Spanish brothers, one has been on the Camino and this time he has brought his brother....spoke great English, he has been to Dallas and Denver and coming back to Dallas in January and we hope to get together. We stopped in Palas De Rei.

We both started the walk out criticizing ourselves. I started by saying, boy do I look old and Jim said Yea I looked in the mirror and I really look fat. It is so easy to criticize ourselves. But that leads to a very easy path to criticize everyone else. If it is that easy to criticize ourselves it is easier to criticize others. Let’s enjoy our differences instead of bashing them down. We’re all not supposed to be the same....we were made different.

Enjoy the differences in your employees ....they won't all be like you.

Enjoy the differences in your customers....they will not all be alike.

Lesson learned:

I must give up the luxury of criticism ....especially self-criticism.
