Took a short hike to Astroga, starting our uphill battle over mountains for the next 5 days.

Yesterday I talked about getting out of our comfort zones....but the real key is how quickly we can make the uncomfortable situation....now comfortable. I have added some pictures of the ABERGUE we stayed at last night. We were welcome by a Spanish couple who showed us the bedroom and let us pick our bed. They had a washer and dryer ....normally we have to wash and hang dry out clothes....there is coffee and tea if we need it....things are getting more comfortable. Jim and I sit down and start playing dominos, a lady from Russia wants to play along with a Spanish couple and we have a comfortable evening with the host cooking and playing the guitar and singing for us.

Speaking of comfort....I started learning spanish 9 months ago so I would be able to speak it when I got here. I could pass any spanish test, you could say something in english and I would tell you the spanish word was. But when I got here I kept asking people if they spoke english. Jim finally said "you spent a lot of money learning spanish, why don't you use it" I have started to use my spanish...not great at it but getting better.

Lesson Learned:

Just like what I teach, there are 4 levels of learning.KASH

Knowledge

Application of Knowledge

Skills (when you apply it, it will be come a skill)

Habit (when you use it enough, it becomes a habit)

I had all the knowledge of Spanish, but until I started to apply it ...the knowledge was worthless.

We have people coming to school and after coming for 3 months they tell their boss they know it and don't need to come back to class. But as I have found out, knowledge is worthless unless you apply it.

So here is my question: What did you learn this week that you promise you will start to apply? It should be something out of your comfort zone. Put yourself in a situation where you MUST apply it....like going to Spain for 8 weeks.
